In 2003, after the land was secured for the boathouse, the corporation launched Frank Lloyd Wright’s Rowing Boathouse Campaign: Icon for a New Century. The goal for the campaign is $5 million and to date over $4 million has been raised. Our largest gifts include: $1 million from NY State. $500,000 from Tom Fontana - son of legendary Buffalo rowing coach Charlie Fontana. With this lead gift the boathouse will be named in honor of Tom’s parents, Charles and Marie Fontana. This surely is a fitting tribute to the many years of coaching, dedication and volunteerism both, Charlie and Marie, gave to this rowing community. $500,000 from the Rotary Club of WNY - with this gift the boathouse site will be named Rotary Park and the road leading to the boathouse will be named Rotary Row. $250,000 from the John R. Oishei Foundation. $249,450 from HUD. $200,000 from Erie County. Over 250 individuals from across the country have also contributed to this very exciting project.
